Summary
The Designer is the lead operative for processing technical quotes for transformers received from customers and distributor representatives. This will involve reading and comprehending customer transformer specifications, including drawings and descriptions, and interpretation of those documents into the specific computer models before selection of product options. When there is a choice of options, the Designer will select standard products as defined by Engineering and supply chain constraints. The Designer uses initiative and experience to suggest alternate proposals and provide input to Sales management on proposal strategies. He/She coordinates product configuration activities between the Sales Department and Engineering Department and consults with Sales representatives, customers, Sales Associates, Design Engineering and/or administrative staff. The Designer telephones or composes emails to answer or advise customers and distributor representatives. This may involve making judgments such as choosing a specific transformer design from established designs or finding alternatives to better fit customer specifications or requirements.
