Skills
- Strong experience with SQL Server including T-SQL, performance tuning, and index optimization.
- Hands-on skills managing Azure SQL Database, Managed Instances, and SQL Server on Azure VMs.
- Knowledge of Azure Resource Manager (ARM), Azure CLI, and Terraform.
- Experience with Dynamic Management Views, Query Store, and Execution Plans.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, SolarWinds DPA, or Redgate.
- Ability to create automated backup, maintenance, and monitoring processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Maintain, monitor, and optimize Azure SQL Databases, Elastic Pools, Managed Instances, and Azure VMs.
- Design and implement indexing strategies, partitioning, and statistics maintenance to enhance query performance.
- Support high availability and disaster recovery configurations including Geo-Replication and Failover Groups.
- Create and improve PowerShell scripts and Azure Automation Runbooks for backups, maintenance, and alerting.
- Assist in schema changes, deployment planning, and T-SQL code reviews.
- Analyze execution plans, query store, and wait statistics to troubleshoot slow queries.
- Manage role-based access control, auditing, and compliance for Azure SQL databases.
- Contribute to performance testing, capacity planning, and database migration projects.
- Participate in on-call support and incident response.
- Monitor database performance and proactively address production bottlenecks.
- Deploy schema changes and updates in collaboration with development and DevOps teams.
- Maintain automated backup, retention, and restore processes for business continuity.
- Collaborate with engineers and analysts to troubleshoot data access issues.
- Review system logs and resource metrics to detect anomalies and apply remediation.
- Support incident response and root cause analysis with documentation.
- Run Azure CLI or PowerShell scripts to manage database configurations and enforce standards.
- Maintain documentation of procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting playbooks.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
