About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to serve as the technical lead for our backend systems. You will own the control plane architecture that sits at the heart of our platform, making the design decisions that determine how we manage state, handle failures, and maintain consistency across distributed components.

This role requires someone who has built systems where things go wrong and recovered gracefully. You will work closely with the Head of Engineering on foundational technical decisions while leading the design and implementation of our core backend services.

What You'll Do

You will design and build the control plane services that form the backbone of our platform. You will own the architecture for real-time communication between distributed components, including patterns for handling disconnection and state reconciliation when networks are unreliable. You will design data models and APIs that evolve gracefully as requirements change. You will provide technical leadership on distributed systems decisions, helping the team navigate trade-offs between consistency, availability, and operational complexity. You will establish patterns and practices for building reliable infrastructure software.

What You'll Bring

You have built distributed systems with strong consistency requirements and understand the practical implications of CAP trade-offs. You have experience with streaming or real-time communication patterns in production environments where partial failures and reconnection logic matter. You have designed systems where disconnection handling is not an afterthought but a core concern. You can reason about failure modes, understand when to choose eventual versus strong consistency, and communicate those trade-offs to the team. You can articulate technical decisions clearly and help others understand the reasoning behind architectural choices.
