AR Specialist (Full-Time)
Skills
- 3-5 years medical claims collection or physician billing experience, preferably OB/GYN
- Proficiency with EMR and physician billing systems and payer portals
- Strong knowledge of EOB/EOP interpretation and denial reason codes
- Accurate data entry and record-keeping skills
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines
- Customer-service orientation and ability to advocate for patients
Responsibilities
- Investigate and resolve insurance denials with payers, preparing and submitting appeals and corrected claims
- Monitor claim status and patient eligibility via payer portals and follow up proactively
- Work assigned task lists, queues, work files and reports to meet department production standards
- Update and maintain accurate billing records, EOB/EOP documentation, and account notes
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to gather supporting documentation for claims and appeals
- Use medical collections practices to manage outstanding AR and aging accounts
- Respond professionally to patient and payer inquiries via phone and email, serving as a patient advocate
- Participate in special projects and process improvements as assigned by management
Education
- High school diploma or GED required
- Billing or coding certification and/or additional healthcare education preferred
