Principal Software Engineer, Identity Access Management
Skills
- 10+ years building and operating large-scale software systems, with 5+ years in senior/staff roles
- Deep expertise in IAM protocols: OAuth2, OIDC, SAML and RBAC/ABAC models
- Proven experience designing and debugging distributed systems at global scale
- Strong proficiency in Go; experience with TypeScript, Rust, or C++ is valuable
- Expert knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL) and distributed caching/storage patterns
- Experience designing, versioning, and operating public-facing APIs used by large developer communities
Responsibilities
- Lead architecture and long-term technical strategy for high-throughput, low-latency IAM systems powering customer and internal APIs
- Design and drive migration or modernization efforts from legacy auth systems to distributed, scalable architectures
- Partner with Product, Security, and UX to translate business requirements into robust, secure technical designs
- Provide deep technical mentorship, thorough code reviews, and author technical design documents
- Ensure operational reliability by defining observability, alerting, and resilience requirements for IAM platform
- Define API versioning and public-facing API stewardship practices for developer-facing identity services
- Lead multi-quarter delivery efforts and coordinate global rollouts in partnership with cross-functional teams
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in a relevant field is a plus but not required
