Position: Project Accountant (Project Controls)

Location: Baton Rouge office, Cajun

Working Hours:

Monday to Thursday: 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM

Friday: 7:30 AM to 11:30 AM

Experience level: 0-5 years

Job Overview:

We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented individual to become a valued member of our team in the role of Engineering Project Accountant. The ideal candidate will take ownership of fundamental accounting and project control responsibilities, working independently to ensure their successful completion.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform general accounting duties, including the preparation and processing of project invoices, and the creation of basic reports.
• Engage in effective communication with customers and other internal stakeholders as necessary.
• Manage project costs throughout the project's lifecycle.
• Manage company staffing profile.
• Participate in project kick-off and ongoing meetings with the Engineering and Procurement, Teams to establish a shared understanding of project control requirements.
• Coordinate the collection, analysis, and reporting of project cost control data to assess overall project status and identify potential problem areas.
• Maintain project cashflows and forecast.
• Act as the custodian of the project budget, including forecasting final figures.
• Administer the project change control process and communicate the implications of any changes.
• Compile, analyze, and report CES financial data.
• Note that Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and corporate accounting will be handled by other team members.

• Accounting Focused: A strong foundation in accounting principles and practices is essential to perform general accounting tasks.
• Attention to Detail: Given the need for accurate record-keeping and financial reporting, being detail-oriented is crucial in this role.
• Communication Skills: Effective communication with customers and various stakeholders is vital, so strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
• Project Management Skills: Project cost control and change management require project management skills, including the ability to coordinate project activities.
• Data Collection and Analysis: Competence in collecting, analyzing, and reporting project cost control information is crucial to assess project status and identify potential issues.
• Budget Management: Experience in budget management, including forecasting, is important, as it involves being the custodian of the project budget.
• Team Collaboration: Collaboration with cross-functional teams, such as Engineering, Procurement, and Construction, necessitates strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
• Adaptability: The role may involve handling changes in project scope, so the ability to adapt and manage the implications of these changes is valuable.
• Financial Reporting: Experience in compiling, analyzing, and reporting financial data is important for assessing the financial health of projects.
