Chief Strategic Communications Officer

First 5 Alameda County is seeking a visionary Chief Strategic Communications Officer to lead transformative communications, policy advocacy, and stakeholder engagement efforts that drive systemic impact in early childhood systems within a diverse and dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute integrated strategic communications plans aligned with organizational goals.
  • Lead storytelling efforts to translate complex data and policy into persuasive messaging.
  • Provide strategic counsel and advocacy for political, legislative, and policy priorities.
  • Represent the agency in legislative hearings, policy roundtables, and stakeholder engagements.
  • Mentor and manage internal communications and policy teams, contractors, and vendors.
  • Develop strategies to engage and influence funders, partners, and community stakeholders.
  • Lead communications to support organizational growth and systemic change.
  • Foster transparent internal communication practices during periods of change.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; advanced degree highly preferred in Communications, Public Policy, or related field.
  • Relevant senior-level leadership experience may substitute formal education.
