The Payloads Organization within Boeing Commercial Aircraft is seeking Experienced and Senior Integration Engineers to join our 777X and 787 Programs teams in Everett, WA.
The Payloads Organization is responsible for everything you see when you fly; and much of which you don’t. The Interiors of the airplane, along with the cargo compartments, exterior markings, associated systems, and cabin safety all make up Payloads. We are how our airline customers fulfill their mission and represent their brand and shape how the public experiences flight.
Our organization is a fast paced, dynamic environment, which pulls from many engineering backgrounds.
Payloads Integration Engineers are responsible for leading the development, implementation, integration, certification, and delivery for a portfolio of multiple complex airplane customer introduction programs. A customer introduction represents the unique configuration details for the first airplane implementation of a customer’s order block.
This position requires the ability to work with stakeholders, communicate with executive leadership and customers located around the world, and lead/influence technical teams to coordinate work and resolve emergent issues. Domestic or international travel may be required.
Position Responsibilities:
Requirements verification, management and validation.
Manages or integrates a portfolio or engineering projects in a dynamic and demanding environment.
Understands standard engineering practices, interface definition, design development, requirements management, engineering documentation, and option structure.
Engineers support of a manufactured product.
Directs engagement working with external stakeholders and executive leadership.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelors of Science from an accredited course of study, in engineering
5+ years of experience in engineering, including design, integration, and/or certification or equivalent combination of additional education and relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
9+ years of experience in engineering, including design, integration, and/or certification or equivalent combination of additional education and relevant experience
Experience leading a cross-functional team
Understanding Systems Engineering & Safety Engineering principles and practices, including Certification, Requirements, Development Assurance, etc.
Knowledge of systems architecture
Knowledge of fault tree architecture and statistical analysis
Ability to quickly interpret & understand system design & functionality and how it integrates into the aircraft
Understanding and demonstrated experience with FAA Title 14 Part 25 and/or EASA equivalent
Experience in aerospace interiors, materials and properties, design criteria and release processes
Leadership – Must be a self-starter, adept at leading complex projects and influencing people across and beyond the Interiors organization
Excellent communication skills; Ability to clearly communicate complex scenarios with diverse internal and external personnel (peers, executive leadership, other IPTs, suppliers, airlines)
Technical Integration – Capability and good knowledge to manage complex Design problems involving interface management among multiple product teams, developing solutions and providing recommendations
Creativity & innovative thinking - develop solutions that meet customer & Boeing needs
Typical Education/Experience:
Experienced (Level 3)
Bachelor's degree and typically 5 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with typically 3 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a PhD degree with experience in an engineering classification. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation.
Senior (Level 4)
Bachelor's degree and typically 9 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with typically 7 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a PhD degree with typically 4 or more years' experience in an engineering classification. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
