👋 Get to know Alexis Espino

I am a Data Analyst with quite a mix of backgrounds and experiences. Educated, trained and experienced in medicine, public/population health research, and business-- I bring a whole host of unique tools and perspectives into data.

It's almost like I have 3 different brains that work synergistically and are bridged by data and data analytics. With medicine, I use SOAP when evaluating patients and solving problems. Included within this is research, wherein it is paramount that I use the scientific method and be more than familiar with research methodologies. In business, I use SWOT Analyses and make EFE and IFE matrices. Lastly, with data (the bridge), there is the data science/analytics workflow. All of these are– at its root level– systematic ways to answer questions and problems. It’s just that the tools change and the way you interact with the object can be different. I have been fortunate enough to be able to easily jump from one to the other or use all of them at the same time. It’s like being in the movie “Everything Everywhere All At Once” or like an Everything Bagel.

In my current life as a data person, I don’t use stethoscopes or scalpels nor am I out in the field gathering data. The most used tools in my arsenal right now are Excel, PowerBI, Tableau, Tableau Prep, and Python– and I do keep adding to my toolbelt!

🔮 Describe yourself in words

Data Analyst, Healthcare Professional, & All-Around Out-Of-The-Box Thinker

🔎 Looking For: What jobs/industries are you interested in?

Data Analyst, Analyst, Data Scientist; I'm looking for a company that will provide an environment that will challenge me to keep learning and that will have a culture of curiosity and innovation.

💡 Showcase: What are the things you want to share more about you?

I'm quite proud of all that I've achieved so far. I've been in different fields and have managed to stitch and relate the different skills and knowledge bases together. I think that I would not have been able to do this if I didn't have a genuine love for learning and a quickness at that. I have achievements that I am proud of in every field!

One thing that I'm most currently proud of is my project on Medicare data. It translates healthcare data into something that is easily digestible for non-medical people. I think that to the untrained eye, it may look simple and straightforward– and it should! That’s how I had intended it to be. On the backend of it though (and during development), it required actual medical, research, and business knowledge. As an added bonus for myself, doing this project has pushed me to learn something new for my tech stack. All in all, the project beautifully combined all my different disciplines and what I'm quite passionate about.

💗 Culture: What type of company culture and values do you believe will enable you to thrive in your workplace?

A culture of curiosity and excellence. A culture of wanting to make a difference in whatever field that may be.
