We are hiring a Senior Manager, Accounting to join our Accounting team. This position reports to the Senior Director, Accounting and takes Away further by working closely with both the Accounting team and Supply Chain Technology (SCT) team on system improvements for sales audit and inventory processes, while also supporting the monthly financial inventory close process (closing adjustments, monthly accruals, balance sheet reconciliations).
You’ll lead in building out the sales audit process through the Shopify platform, and strengthen internal controls around the sales audit process
You’ll lead the Accounting team in reviewing daily sales audit issues, and coordinate with SCT and Digital teams on implementing any system enhancement work to correct process issues
You’ll coordinate required updates to store standard operating procedures with the Retail Operations team
You’ll work with the Cost Accounting team to identify First In-First Out (FIFO) related enhancements to the Microsoft Dynamics D365 ERP system
You will work with the Logistics and Sourcing teams to implement process improvements related to inventory purchases and three way match
You’ll own preparation of monthly closing adjustments for FIFO accounting plus work with the Cost Accounting team in preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations and inventory analysis
You’ll identify opportunities to utilize AI in enhancing accounting processes and automating manual tasks, as well as identify and implement opportunities to automate and improve daily accounting processes and reduce monthly close timeline
You’ll assist with audit requests, such as preparing supporting documentation and schedules
You’ll build and present ad-hoc reports to support monthly analyses as needed
You have a BS/BA in Accounting or a related field
You have Cost Accounting/Inventory Accounting experience at a mix of public and private environments; experience at a retail start-up strongly preferred, but not required
You have experience with and an understanding of both average and FIFO inventory accounting
You have an understanding of internal controls over direct to consumer (DTC) sales processes
You have previous experience with ERP systems (D365 experience preferable) along with related platforms for inventory management and DTC sales (Shopify preferable)
You are an excellent verbal and written communicator across different audiences, both internal and external (Slack experience preferred, but not required)
You are detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
You’re creative and innovative; you love to build great new things that are fresh and unique while staying on brand
You’re agile, and motivated by a fast-paced and ever changing environment

Our total rewards are inclusive of both compensation and benefits. What we offer within a salary range is dependent on a number of factors, including scope and qualifications for the role, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to other Away employees. Salary and benefit offerings are reviewed during phone screenings to ensure alignment.
Compensation: $135,000-$140,000 annually
This role is eligible to participate in Away’s Annual Company Performance Incentive Bonus Plan, the terms of which are determined at the discretion of the company
Equity Grant: commensurate with level determined at the discretion of the company
