Director, Community Impact

The Director, Community Impact, is tasked with executing a strategic plan aimed at enhancing community impact, while ensuring that ongoing performance is consistent with established objectives. This position requires the cultivation and maintenance of relationships with a diverse array of stakeholders across public, private, and non-profit sectors who influence, and are influenced by, the community initiatives of Augusta National Golf Club (ANGC).

The Director exemplifies financial acumen through the evaluation of community-related investments, the management of budgets, and the forecasting of expenses. Collaboration is imperative; the Director engages with all internal departments to ensure alignment and support for both organizational and community initiatives. Furthermore, the Director serves as the organizational representative within the community, embodying the Mission and Core Values of the institution.

In this capacity, the Director, Community Development oversees a broad spectrum of community development initiatives, providing both vision and direction for ANGC's community impact objectives. The ideal candidate will exhibit creativity, flexibility, and self-direction, demonstrating the ability to work collaboratively with ANGC staff, community stakeholders, funders, partners, state and local governments, academic institutions, local businesses, other non-profit organizations, and residents. This individual must possess a strong desire to understand the challenges, dynamics, and priorities within the community, while adeptly managing and directing resources to align with collective objectives and address community opportunities and concerns.

Essential Functions of the Job

  • Identify key community concerns and priorities and co-develop strategies and resources to address them
  • Lead implementation of existing ANGC Community Impact plans and update plans and proposals as conditions change and opportunities align
  • Facilitate, participate in, and lead community collaboratives and meetings.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community stakeholders, funders and partners, including state and local government, academic institutions, local businesses, other non-profits, and residents.
  • Building effective relationships across identified stakeholders, being aware of stakeholder perspectives and objectives, while advancing ANGC’s interests with each entity.
  • Brief and prepare senior leaders to support their opportunity to leverage ANGC’s relationships and networks to advance ANGC’s community interests.
  • Direct programs and develop opportunities to inspire a connection to the community among ANGC employees.
  • Support and collaborate with the business owners of ANGC Grow the Game and Employee Community initiatives.
  • Seek grants and funding collaborators that can leverage ANGC community investment and strategies.
  • Help to develop annual department plans including goals, objectives, timelines, resources, and budget.
  • Provide regular project updates to the Director, Community Impact, Chief Property and Planning Officer, and the ANGC’s leadership team.
  • Creating a budget, completing forecasts and maintaining expenses.
  • Work with ANGC’s Communications team to appropriately amplify the actions and investments of ANGC
  • Serving as a liaison between community leaders and ANGC leadership.
  • Ensuring ANGC’s objectives are pursued and accomplished during key community events.

Physical Demands

  • Acceptable level of hearing and vision to perform job duties
  • Occasionally required to walk and work with hands and arms, lift up to 25 pounds and/or drive a golf cart.
  • Constantly required to sit, sometimes for several hours at a time, and use their hands and fingers to operate a computer.

Qualifications:

Skills/Knowledge/Attributes:

  • Significant experience developing, organizing, and executing community relations programs, initiatives, campaigns and events.
  • Anticipates and balances the needs of multiple stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • A commitment to community-led development and the centering of underrepresented and disadvantaged perspectives and experiences
  • Flexibility and adaptability to a changing, fast-paced environment
  • Evidence of writing, managing, and implementing public and private grants
  • Demonstrated record of community-informed organizing or engagement experience
  • Proven history of working with varied and conflicting stakeholders and audiences
  • Strong oral and written communications skills with the ability to handle complex and difficult situations with thought and confidence.
  • Experienced presenter able to convey ideas and facilitate in multiple formats while tailoring messages to a variety of audiences, including an executive audience.
  • A strategic planner with sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment as well as an operational and detail-oriented perspective.
  • High attention for detail and possess very strong organizational skills.
  • Experienced and highly functional individual contributor with ability to both create and operate.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Proficiency in utilizing virtual meeting platforms (Zoom, WebEx, Teams, etc.)

Relative Experience/Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Business Management, Planning, Urban Development, Sustainability, Social Change, Housing Policy, community development, etc.) in relevant field at least eight (8) years of successful experience or graduate degree and/or relevant subject matter expertise and at least six (6) years of successful experience
  • Familiarity with stakeholders and funders in Augusta, GA
  • Experience managing and supporting multiple projects and programs across a wide range of focus areas

Required License(s):

  • Possess a valid driver’s license and/or successfully completes the Club’s internal motor vehicle training program

Projected Work Schedule:

Normal work hours are 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
