Supplier Quality Engineer - Precision Parts
Skills
- Experience in supplier quality, manufacturing engineering, or supplier process development for precision mechanical parts.
- Proficiency with GD&T and ASME drawing standards (ASME Y14.5, Y14.3, Y14.41).
- Working knowledge of AS9100/ISO 9001 quality management systems and PPAP/FAI/AS9102 practices.
- Hands-on knowledge of machining and secondary operations (CNC, EDM, turning, multi-axis, laser, fixtures).
- Experience with measurement systems, statistical analysis, and tools (MSA, Minitab/JMP/MatLab).
- Ability to travel up to 50% to supplier and manufacturing sites and perform source inspections.
Responsibilities
- Partner with design and product engineering to provide manufacturability feedback and define part requirements, drawings, and BOM data for supplier success.
- Drive supplier development and qualification activities through design reviews, capability assessments, prototyping, and PPAP/FAI processes.
- Assess supplier processes, equipment, and capabilities across metals, plastics, composites, and additive manufacturing.
- Develop measurement systems, capability studies, control plans, and inspection methods for key and critical characteristics.
- Manage supplier performance for cost, quality, and delivery and lead supplier corrective actions (SCAR) and containments.
- Perform supplier audits and ensure compliance to flow-downs, QMS requirements, and regulatory constraints (e.g., ITAR).
- Support RCCA, MRB activities, and resolution of fitment and quality issues across the product lifecycle.
- Share lessons learned and drive continuous improvement across supplier base and internal teams.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or similar technical field OR
- Equivalent experience (typically 5–8 years) in supplier/manufacturing quality engineering
