Sr. Battery Systems Engineer (BMS/Accepting GC Candidates - No Clearance required)
Skills
- Hands-on experience with battery test equipment (cell/pack cyclers, thermal chambers, EIS, ACIR, hi-pot, megger)
- Battery characterization and validation: mission profile, equivalent-circuit modeling, cycle/calendar life testing and safety analysis
- BMS HW and FW/SW knowledge including feature definition, algorithm development and validation
- Experience with Matlab/Simulink or equivalent modeling and battery algorithm development, or strong electrical circuit design/integration skills
- Familiarity with common electrochemical battery chemistries and operational boundaries
- Working knowledge of battery safety and transport standards (UN38.3, NAVSEA S9310, UL, IEC)
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end ESS development: requirements, architecture, cell/module/pack selection and validation
- Define BMS requirements and oversee BMS hardware and firmware/software design and roadmap
- Create and execute validation plans at cell, module, pack, bench and HIL levels; support bring-up, test, debug and vehicle integration
- Collaborate with program teams to translate CONOPS/user stories into actionable ESS requirements
- Manage vendor relationships and support production ramp and supplier integration
- Sustain fielded ESS units: root cause analysis, data processing, corrective actions and design updates
- Develop ramp plans from development units to production and ensure alignment with program goals
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Physical Sciences (required)
- Graduate degree in a relevant field (preferred)
