Senior Supplier Development Engineer, Mechanical Machining/Sheet Metal
Skills
- Supplier quality and industrialization experience in manufacturing environments
- Technical knowledge of mechanical fabrication, machining and sheet metal processes
- Familiarity with CAD, GD&T, and IPC standards
- Experience implementing SPC and process controls
- Strong supplier-facing communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to travel regularly to supplier sites (≈50%)
Responsibilities
- Own mechanical fabrication commodity strategy from NPI through full production across product lines
- Evaluate and qualify supplier capabilities, facilities, workforce, and factory layout for Approved Supplier List inclusion
- Bring up new production tooling and lines at supplier sites and ensure materials/processes meet product and SQE quality criteria
- Drive supplier capacity expansion and production ramp readiness
- Establish and lead SPC/process control reviews at supplier sites
- Partner with SQE and supply chain to execute root cause investigations and close corrective/preventive actions
- Identify and implement product/process improvements to reduce cost, cycle time, and supply risk
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, engineering, or related technical field required
- Prefer mechanical, metallurgical/materials, or related engineering degree
