- Experience with Matlab/Simulink or similar modeling and simulation tools
- Embedded real-time control implementation (C/C++)
- Sensor and actuator selection and integration (motors, drivers, isolators, encoders)
- Test, alignment, and performance verification of optical and gimbaled systems
- Ability to develop and manage error budgets and experimental validation
Responsibilities
- Lead architecture, system trades, and detailed design for precision scanning, pointing, and stabilization of optical systems
- Derive and translate sensor line-of-sight performance requirements under multidisciplinary constraints
- Create and manage pointing control and pointing knowledge error budgets with model predictions and test results
- Design embedded hardware and software for control precision mechanisms and select sensors, motors, and motor drivers
- Develop detailed system models predicting pointing, stabilization, and jitter performance
- Analyze pointing/stabilization performance and validate models with sub-assembly and full-system prototypes
- Develop and review test setups, procedures, and data to transition products from R&D to production
- Serve as control engineering SME, collaborating with senior staff and leadership to solve interdisciplinary problems
Education
- BS in Mechanical, Electrical, Controls Engineering, or related field (required)
- MS or PhD in a related field (preferred)
