Computer Vision Engineer, Space

Anduril Industries' Space team builds AI-powered spacecraft perception, autonomy, and payload systems to support Space Domain Awareness and operational missions across orbital regimes. They are seeking a Computer Vision Engineer to design, implement, validate, and operate perception subsystems—spanning algorithms, simulation, and hardware integration—for spacecraft and proximity operations.

Skills

Advanced ML algorithm development and benchmarking on large datasets.
High proficiency in C++ development in Linux environments.
Experience with object detection, tracking, segmentation, and feature tracking.
Experience with visual odometry, SLAM, multi-view geometry, and 3D reconstruction.
Familiarity with sensor modalities and fusion (RGB, multi-band, RGB-D, LIDAR).
Ability to work across complex, interdisciplinary spacecraft systems and operational timelines.

Responsibilities

Design, prototype, and benchmark computer vision and perception algorithms for spacecraft missions (LEO, MEO, GEO, reentry, RPOD).
Develop and maintain core libraries and runtime applications for on-board and ground CV systems.
Integrate classical geometric methods with modern ML approaches for detection, tracking, segmentation, and navigation.
Collaborate with Sensors, GNC, Avionics, Flight Software, Systems, and Mission Ops to integrate and test hardware/software subsystems.
Create and execute test plans for ground checkout, on-orbit commissioning, and operational validation.
Develop simulation, truth/physics modeling, monte-carlo and hardware-in-the-loop capabilities to validate algorithms and fault responses.
Define automated fault detection and recovery behaviors for perception systems.

Education

MS or PhD in Machine Learning, Robotics, Computer Science, or Image Science with emphasis on Computer Vision (required).
BS in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Electrical Engineering, or related field (required minimum).
