Here, your voice and ideas matter, your work makes an impact, and together, you will help us define the future of American Express.

How will you make an impact in this role?

American Express Global Commercial Services (GCS) Products is the leading provider of payment solutions for corporations and small businesses, offering a suite of products and services that help customers run and grow their businesses. Within GCS Products, the Cross-Product Business Experience & Design team is seeking a dynamic and strategic leader who excels at navigating ambiguity, driving innovation, and delivering meaningful outcomes in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

This role requires strong leadership and a broad skillset - including strategy development, concept creation, design thinking, program execution, stakeholder influence, and cross-functional collaboration.

As we continue to expand and innovate in the commercial space, we are hiring a Director – Digital Program Management to lead critical initiatives that will redefine how Middle Market customers engage with American Express.

This leader will play a key role in advancing our mission: to deliver a fully integrated digital business experience for Middle Market customers - empowering them to seamlessly manage and grow their relationship with American Express.

Partnering across a diverse set of teams and workstreams, this Director will coordinate the execution of a best-in-class digital ecosystem - one that differentiates American Express through intuitive, personalized, and configurable experiences aligned to product and persona needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Digital Experience Delivery: Coordinate the end-to-end delivery of an integrated digital experience for  Middle Market customers. Ensure seamless integration of core card and program management journeys across desktop and mobile platforms
  • Roadmap Ownership & Execution Excellence: Define and manage a multi-year digital roadmap that balances large-scale transformations with iterative releases. Proactively manage dependencies, track milestones, mitigate risks, and ensure high-quality delivery across workstreams
  • Enterprise Collaboration: Serve as a key integrator across Product, Engineering, UX, Enterprise Digital, Marketing, and other partners. Foster cross-functional alignment and shared accountability to accelerate progress and deliver business outcomes
  • Stakeholder Influence & Communication: Influence senior leaders and executive sponsors to resolve roadblocks and make informed tradeoffs. Drive recurring communications, including executive-ready materials, to ensure transparency, alignment, and momentum
  • Impact Measurement: Define and track program-level success metrics in partnership with analytics and product teams. Monitor progress against strategic goals and quantify the business value delivered through digital enhancements
  • Occasional domestic travel

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of professional experience in program management, digital transformation, or product delivery. Proven success leading large-scale, cross-functional digital initiatives with measurable business and customer impact
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently, carve opportunities out of white space, define strategic visions, and drive execution in fast-paced, evolving environments
  • Deep knowledge of Agile product development methodologies and enterprise program management. Skilled in using collaboration tools such as JIRA, Confluence, and Rally
  • Experience delivering customer-focused digital solutions, ideally for commercial clients or segmented personas. Ability to define outcomes that align with both customer needs and business objectives
  • Outstanding communication and influencing skills, including experience working with VP and SVP-level stakeholders. Able to lead through influence, align cross-functional teams, and drive enterprise-wide collaboration
  • Track record of leading and motivating high-performing teams through transformational change. Skilled in managing multiple workstreams, shifting priorities, and fostering a culture of inclusion, excellence, and resilience
  • Proven ability to analyze complex business processes, identify opportunities, and deliver innovative, scalable solutions
  • Strong presentation and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex ideas into clear, compelling narratives for all audiences, including senior leadership
