Job Description

AHRC NYC is seeking a passionate Full-Time Job Coach to join their Employment Services Program in Queens. The Job Coach must be dedicated to supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in achieving meaningful employment. The job coach initially spends 100% of the time with the individuals on the job site and then gradually spends less time on-site as the individual becomes proficient at the job.

Pay Rate: $18-$23 per hour depending on education and experience...plus a comprehensive Benefit package. See Benefit information below.

Schedule: 40 hours per week...schedule flexibility a must.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide training and support to workers with disabilities, to help ensure success in their job.
  • Teach, assist, and support new workers in their jobs using techniques such as demonstration of tasks, modeling, counseling, observation, and discussion.
  • Manage a caseload of 10-20 clients, frequent time spent at job sites.
  • Travel with our individuals from home to job sites.
  • Write detailed service notes after each session to monitor client progress and outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year of experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred.
  • Flexibility in work hours and ability to respond to the scheduling needs of the individual. 
  • Direct Support Professional (DSP) experience, a plus
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, including effective writing and oral communication skills.
  • Understanding of Person Centered Planning.
  • High school diploma or GED.
