Title: Open Source Intelligence R&D Analyst

Clearance: Top Secret (SCI upon hire)

Location: Rosslyn, VA


Agile Defense is an award-winning national security company that delivers innovative solutions to our clients. We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled R&D Analyst to support a federal law enforcement client’s Open Source Intelligence Program. This role focuses on identifying, piloting, implementing, and enhancing tools and technologies for open-source intelligence collection and analysis. Your work will directly contribute to 24x7 operations that are crucial for protecting key assets and responding to significant events.


Responsibilities / duties
  • Tool & Technology Research: Conduct independent research to identify and evaluate emerging open source intelligence technologies and tools that improve the collection, processing, and analysis of publicly available information.
  • Pilot & Implementation: Lead pilot projects to assess the applicability and effectiveness of new technologies, identifying potential use cases and areas for improvement.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders to ensure that selected tools align with operational needs and enhance mission capabilities.
  • Innovation: Develop new strategies for leveraging open source intelligence technologies and mitigating any gaps in current processes.
  • Training Support: Partner with training team to integrate technical criteria into training modules for new tools and technologies.
  • Reporting & Presentation: Prepare detailed reports and recommendations on emerging technologies for leadership.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay informed of industry trends by attending relevant trainings, seminars, and conferences, and maintain relationships across law enforcement, security, and intelligence communities.


Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, or minimum of 8 years of experience without a degree.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Expert knowledge of technological processes, databases, and software used in the anonymous collection and exploitation of open source and publicly available information.
  • Knowledge of media platforms, in particular those aligned with cultural, political and security interests as they relate to the U.S. interests, in order to conduct complex open source operations.
  • High proficiency in evaluating emerging technologies and advising on their implementation.
  • Strong understanding of federal regulations related to open source intelligence collection and analysis.
  • Knowledge of Internet based research including advanced search techniques, search engine and database resources, data visualization tools, and Internet sources.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting open source intelligence operations within a law enforcement agency.
