Job Description:

Airbus Helicopters is looking for a Senior Technical Trainer to join our Customer Training Team in Grand Prairie, TX.


The Sr Technical Trainer provides Maintenance Training to operator or MRO’s aircraft maintenance technicians in compliance with relevant regulation standards to allow them to maintain Airbus products.

The Airbus Helicopters Inc. (AHI) Training Center offers North American and global customers a comprehensive curriculum of Pilot and Technician training services across the spectrum of Airbus Helicopter types.

Your challenges:

Technical Instruction (Classroom and Laboratory):  80%

  • Deliver technical instruction to customers and company personnel on Airbus Helicopter products and associated equipment. This includes theory and practical exercises for classes several weeks in duration.

  • Administer course exams/quizzes and homework to trainees. 

  • Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing publications.

  • Determines effectiveness of training programs by monitoring feedback and making improvements as necessary.

  • Maintain proficiency IAW changes in technology and maintenance procedures. 

  • Act as the “face of Airbus Helicopters” and host to trainees while onsite, ensuring they receive an excellent customer experience.

  • Train and mentor new instructors.

  • Maintain qualifications equal to or greater than Referent Instructor for at least one aircraft type.


Support Equipment:  10%

  • Develop and maintain training devices, mock-ups, and tools used during practical instruction.

  • Maintain an organized and safe classroom and training hangar environment.


Administration:  10%

  • Responsible for ensuring accuracy and completeness of required training documentation/student transcripts and submitting in a timely manner at the conclusion of the course.  

  • Incorporate revisions and modifications to course material IAW ASB, SB, and other relevant documentation.

  • Assist in the development of homework, quizzes, and exam questions.

Required:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

Preferred:

  • BS/BA degree in relevant field.

Experience:

Required:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of Instructor experience on Helicopters. 

  • Minimum five (5) year experience of field maintenance on Airbus helicopter products. 

  • Experience in ground operations/handling of the assigned aircraft.

Preferred:

  • Airbus Technical Instructor experience

Licensure/Certifications:

Required:

  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant or equivalent License from other CAA authority

Preferred:

  • FAA Inspection Authorization

Travel Required: 

  • 20% Domestic and International

Citizenship: 

  •  Authorized to work in the US

Clearance: 

  • None

Qualified Skills:  

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

Required:

  • Extensive knowledge of helicopter mechanical theory, field maintenance, repair, overhaul, inspection, testing and troubleshooting, blueprints, wiring diagrams, inspection guides, and engineering/technical directives.

  • Aircraft systems, flight characteristics, and maintenance techniques

  • Formal instructor experience.

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with EASA/TCCA/FAA Part 147 rules and regulations as applicable. 

Communication Skills: 

Required:

  • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form in English. 

  • Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills.

  • Strong ability to deliver information using a variety of techniques so that students with different experience levels and backgrounds are able to grasp and retain the information presented. 

  • Ability to command an audience and hold their attention throughout training sessions.

  • Ability to work with translators.

Preferred:

  • Bi-lingual capability (French/German/Spanish).

  • SmartScreen/Video Projection Equipment

  • HATS Trainer Familiarity

  • Ability to analyze student experience and knowledge base and customize teaching approach to maximize learning.

Physical Requirements:  

  • Onsite or remote:  95% or more Onsite 

  • Vision: able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings.   Daily

  • Hearing: able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms.   Daily

  • Speaking:  able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.   Daily

  • Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts.   Daily

  • Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.   Weekly to monthly

  • Lifting:  able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.   Weekly to monthly

  • Pushing / Pulling:  able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.   

  • Sitting:  able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer.   Daily

  • Squatting / Kneeling:  able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.

  • Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor.  Several times a week

  • Travel:  able to travel independently and at short notice on a frequent basis

  • Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents):  able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.   Several times a week

  • Personal Protective Equipment required:  Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site

  • Administrative position only PPE required: Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits, appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.
