Job Description

AECOM is seeking a motivated Civil Engineering Intern to join our Building and Places Division in Atlanta, United States, with a specialization in fueling system infrastructure. This internship provides an excellent opportunity for students or approaching graduates to gain hands-on experience in the design and delivery of complex fuel system projects, including facilities for the receipt, storage, transfer, and distribution of aviation jet fuel, diesel fuel, ethanol, and motor gasoline.

This position is expected to begin as soon as possible.

The responsibility of this position includes, but are not limited to:

  • Assist with the design and development of civil engineering components for fueling system infrastructure under the supervision of senior engineers.
  • Support the preparation of site layouts, grading plans, stormwater management, and utility designs related to fuel system projects.
  • Perform engineering calculations and analysis using industry-standard software tools
  • Create and modify technical drawings, plans, and specifications using AutoCAD and other relevant software
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project goals are met efficiently and effectively
  • Participate in project meetings and contribute ideas for problem-solving and process improvements
  • Assist in the preparation of reports and other technical documents
  • Stay updated on industry trends, codes, and regulations relevant to civil engineering projects
  • Support the development and implementation of quality control measures
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes and methodologies

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field with the intent to continue enrollment after the internship and must have completed at least 1 of year of study. Candidates who have recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the master’s degree are eligible to apply for these positions.  Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.
  • Due to the nature of the work, U.S. Citizenship is required for this role.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D Design or similar applications.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies.
  • Basic understanding of civil engineering principles and practices.
  • Ability to travel domestically or internationally
