About the Job
Lead the transformation of our company into a fully automated fintech operation by building a new Loan Origination and Management System from the ground up. You will oversee a talented team of frontend (Angular) and backend (Python/Django) engineers to develop a secure, scalable, and reliable web platform that will serve as the foundation for our daily operations, business intelligence, and front-office processes. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to shape the company’s next technological phase while advancing both your own career and those of your team members toward institutional excellence.

WBL is a U.S.-based company with a 100% remote workforce.

Generally, working hours will be 9:00am-6:00pm Eastern time, Monday through Friday, although hours worked may be greater based upon operational requirements.

The job requires excellent oral and written command of the English language.

Responsibilities:

• Architecture & Road-mapping

• Define the target architecture for Angular front-ends, Python back-ends (FastAPI/Django), and SQL Server/Azure SQL data layers.

• Create integration blueprints (REST/gRPC, webhooks, message queues) for inbound/outbound data flows with third-party systems (CRM, marketing, doc-gen, KYC, etc.).

• Maintain an ADR (Architecture Decision Record) log and “golden paths” for the team.

• Architect RESTful Solutions: Design and review APIs, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and compliance with enterprise integration standards.

• Translate business processes into modular web application services (domain boundaries, API contracts, data models, error contracts). Collaborate with business stakeholders to convert functional requirements into clear, actionable technical designs

• Lead design reviews; de-risk with spikes and proof-of-concepts; break initiatives into epics/stories with clear Definition of Done.

• Pair with engineers on complex features; unblock deep issues in performance, concurrency, and data integrity.Oversee the alignment of software implementations with architectural blueprints and long-term platform strategy.

• Data & Integrations

• Model relational schemas (normalized tables, SCDs where applicable), define indexes/partitions, and author T-SQL (procs, views, functions).

• Establish integration patterns (idempotency, retries, backoff, DLQs) and data quality SLAs.

• Ensure Security & Compliance, encourage modular design patterns, clean architecture, and code reusability across teams and projects.

• Own authN/authZ (JWT/OAuth2), secrets management, PII handling, and audit logging.

• Drive secure coding standards, dependency governance, and vendor risk assessments.

• Define SLOs/SLIs, observability (structured logs, metrics, traces), and incident playbooks.

• Choose CI/CD strategy (pipelines, environments, canary/blue-green) and infra (Azure/AWS, containers/serverless as appropriate).

• Guide Engineering Teams: Provide technical direction and mentorship to software engineers, ensuring adherence to best practices in coding, scalability, and maintainability. Partner with DevOps, Data, and QA teams to ensure seamless integration, deployment, and observability across environments.Uphold engineering excellence through code reviews, architectural governance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to map processes and prioritize automations. Produce and maintain high-level system documentation, architecture diagrams, and API specifications for both technical and non-technical audiences

• 8+ years in software engineering, 3+ as architect/tech lead.
• Production systems with Angular, Python (FastAPI or Django), and SQL Server (including performance tuning & T-SQL).
• Building integrations at scale (API gateways, OAuth, webhooks, queues like SQS/Rabbit/Kafka).
• CI/CD (GitHub Actions/GitLab/Azure DevOps), containerization, cloud (Azure/AWS).
• Excellent English communication across execs and engineers.

Nice to Have

• Event-driven architectures, DDD, CQRS; feature flags; Terraform.
• Experience in fintech or data-sensitive domains.
