About Voltai
Voltai is the leading AI company building agentic and reasoning systems for semiconductor and electronics design. We work with 70+% of the world’s largest semiconductor companies and are backed by Sequoia Capital in our Series A.
About the Team
9 out of our 20 engineers have an Olympiad medal. We're a small, elite team of engineers and researchers, including IOI/IPhO olympiad medalists, Stanford professors, ex-IC9 from Meta, ex-CTO of Synopsys, and ex-world wide head of sales from Cadence. Our business leadership has scaled revenue in their previous companies to over $1.5bn.
What You'll do as a firmware engineer
Develop and maintain low-level firmware for prototype boards, FPGA systems, and silicon evaluation platforms.
Build firmware interfaces and APIs for data collection, test automation, and system telemetry.
Collaborate with ML engineers to define firmware hooks that enable real-time model feedback and performance tuning.
Work with hardware and software teams to validate new architectures, debug complex cross-domain issues, and optimize performance.
Contribute to scalable frameworks for automated testing, regression, and hardware-in-the-loop workflows.
Bring best practices in firmware architecture, CI/CD for embedded systems, and version control of hardware artifacts.
What We’re Looking For
BS/MS/PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
3+ years of experience in embedded systems or firmware development (C/C++, Rust, or similar).
Deep understanding of microcontrollers, SoCs, or FPGA-based systems.
Experience with low-level drivers, board bring-up, and hardware debugging (JTAG, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes).
Familiarity with EDA workflows, semiconductor validation, or hardware modeling is a strong plus.
Knowledge of Python for test scripting or data collection.
Bonus: exposure to machine learning, agent building, hardware acceleration.
