Senior Software Engineer

As a Senior Software Engineer at Vocal Media, you'll play a critical role in building the data infrastructure and tools that help us measure the impact of our campaigns and set our team up for success. You'll design and maintain pipelines, mentor junior engineers, and help shape the technical roadmap for 2026 and beyond.

• Support the build and optimization of Vocal Media’s data warehouse, supporting internal and client-facing products.
• Design, develop, and maintain ETL workflows to ingest, transform, and deliver data across multiple systems. Ensure pipelines are scalable, reliable, and efficient for both batch and real-time processing.
• Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to understand data needs and deliver solutions.
• Share best practices, mentor engineering team members, and conduct code reviews
• Maintain a thorough, meticulously documented, and tested codebase that can be scaled across large datasets
• Contribute to long-term architectural plans, including future frontend development efforts, and lead these projects when they become active.

• 5-7 years of experience in software or data engineering
• Experience working with large datasets collected from disparate data sources and optimizing ETL processes
• Fluency in python (fastapi, uvicorn, selenium, etc) and SQL (BigQuery)
• Experience using GCP, Cloud Run, Airflow and Docker for containerization and orchestration
• Prior experience mentoring junior engineers
• Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment
• Strong problem solving skills and ability to think creatively

• Experience scaling products
• Experience leading products from planning to execution
• Experience working with political campaigns or social media marketing, and/or a passion for progressive causes
• Familiarity with frontend development, especially when integrating data pipelines into dashboards, admin tools, or user-facing applications.
• Experience designing and building machine learning models, including a focus on natural language processing
