Fraud Prevention Analyst – FULL TIME – Charlottesville, VA

SUMMARY:

The Fraud Prevention Analyst will directly impact the financial wellness of our members by assessing account activity for potential fraud as well as completing fraud investigations. Through effective collaboration with internal partners, the incumbent will work to identify strategies to prevent and mitigate fraud losses to our membership and Credit Union.

The position is tiered into levels I & II. Placement within the tiers is based on experience within the role, and compensation is discretionary based on prior experience. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Interact with members to support questions related to potential and real fraudulent activity, providing potential mitigation steps. 
• Complete fraud investigations under the direction of the Fraud Prevention Manager, including creating careful documentation of each investigation.
• Monitor systems and analyze activity to prevent fraudulent activities.
• Stay up to date on trends and provide recommendations for additional monitoring actions. 
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal partners, supporting collaboration and driving improvement of financial wellness of those in our communities.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: 

• Associations Degree or substitution of relevant experience is required. Bachelor’s degree preferred. 

Work Experience:

• At least one year of similar or related experience - Placement within Tier I, II, or III of the position is related to prior experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office suite of tools including Outlook, Teams, etc.
