ABOUT THE POSITION

Electrical Designer – Transit & Rail | Hybrid | New York, NY | Newark, NJ

VHB is seeking an Electrical Engineer/Designer to join our dynamic growing Transportation practice in the Northeast. This position provides an opportunity to work on complex transit and rail infrastructure power projects and play an important role in expanding and shaping the group.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation of design drawings and documents, technical specifications, cost estimates, proposals, calculations, and studies associated with transit and rail traction power systems, including load flow analyses and computational analyses for power systems
• Assist in preparation of final design document preparation for power systems, substations, power distribution, facility power, and security systems on several types of transit and rail infrastructure projects
• Prepare plans, specifications, reports, and analyses to meet scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements
• Review contractor design drawings and specifications to ensure system requirements are met

Skills and Attributes

• Knowledge of railway substation and power distribution systems design
• Demonstrated excellence in verbal presentations and technical writing
• Team oriented with strong capability to work independently
• Robust technical and critical thinking skills
• Detail oriented and quality focused
• Strong project/task management skills
• AutoCAD or Microstation proficiency

Qualifications

• 1-3+ years of experience in power systems design engineering required
• BS in Electrical Engineering or related field of study preferred
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in New York City is $81,000 - 105,000. This offer is determined based on a number of job-related factors including internal comparators, skills, education, training, credentials, experience, scope and complexity of role responsibilities and geographic location.
