Skills
- Valid veterinary license in good standing for the hiring state
- Emergency and critical care clinical skills and emergency surgery experience
- Proficiency with diagnostics: digital radiography, ultrasound, in-house labs
- Ability to triage, stabilize, and manage a high-volume emergency caseload
- Strong client communication and team collaboration skills
- Comfort working overnight shifts, weekends and holidays
Responsibilities
- Provide emergency and critical care for small animal patients during overnight shifts
- Perform triage, diagnostics, emergency surgeries, and stabilization procedures
- Interpret radiographs, ultrasound, and in-house lab results to guide treatment
- Communicate diagnoses, prognosis, and treatment plans clearly with clients
- Collaborate with doctors, technicians, and support staff to ensure continuity of care
- Maintain accurate medical records and follow hospital protocols and standards
- Participate in on-call rotation covering weekends and holidays as needed
- Engage in continuing education and support department improvement initiatives
Education
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) or equivalent degree
- Active state veterinary license in good standing prior to start date
- Commitment to ongoing continuing education
