Water or Wastewater Laboratory Technician

The Employee will be required to perform analytical testing on different unit processes of the facility
with the primary focus of ensuring that the plant functions according to internal specifications, meeting
the client’s demands and all regulatory responsibility.

Key Characteristics:

• Skills in basic computer use
• Maintain a clean work area
• Use and Maintain laboratory equipment in proper working order
• Independently perform routine and non-routine tests and analyses
• Ensure the safe handling of all chemicals and equipment in the lab

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Compile data from all testing and analysis of samples
• Design and execute laboratory testing
• Observe and interpret analytical data
• Record and manage all laboratory data
• Organize and store all laboratory chemicals
• Prepare reports as required based on findings and in required time frame
• Properly use and maintain personal protective equipment
• Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Preferred:

• Ability to use a variety of laboratory equipment and chemicals
• Knowledge of laboratory standards and regulations
• Knowledge of proper laboratory analytical testing methods for wastewater samples
• Knowledge of, and ability to comply with safety regulations and standards
• Knowledge of standard laboratory principles, techniques, equipment and materials
• Ability to troubleshoot and help determine causes of failed or negative trending results

Education & Experience
Required:

• A diploma or Associate degree in Science
• At least two (2) years relative work experience in a water treatment or chemical testing lab

Preferred:

• A Bachelor degree in Science, Chemistry, or Laboratory
• Three (3) years work experience in water treatment facility lab

Working Conditions

• Frequent walking, standing, stooping, and bending
• Lift, carry, push and/or pull moderate amounts of weight
• Both laboratory (80%) and plant (20%) work environments
• Less than 10% travel is expected
