Director, Product Management (Consumer)

About the Company

Valon is building the AI-native operating system for regulated finance, starting with mortgage servicing.

We're a Series C company backed by a16z, transforming industries that others have written off as too complex to innovate.

Rather than build on top of broken legacy systems, we took a different approach: we built and operate our own mortgage servicing business managing $110+ billion in loans. This wasn't the end goal, it was how we deeply understood the complexity needed to build software that actually works in regulated industries.

The results speak for themselves. We've transformed mortgage servicing from a 0% margin business into 60%+ margins while dramatically improving customer experience. Major enterprise contracts are now deploying across the industry.

ValonOS is our unified platform that makes every process structured and programmable and it is perfectly positioned for the AI era. When everything flows through one system with rich data, AI agents don't just automate tasks, they continuously improve entire operations. Mortgage servicing is just the beginning of our vision to transform regulated industries and beyond.

Product at Valon

The Product team at Valon is focused on designing and scaling a next-generation platform that delivers an exceptional experience for homeowners while enabling operational excellence for our servicing teams. We work at the intersection of regulation, finance, and technology—balancing the need for compliance and controls with the opportunity to build delightfully simple, transparent tools for consumers.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Director of Product Management to lead the vision, strategy, and execution for Valon’s consumer-facing product portfolio. Valon has a relationship with our users around homeownership and more generally over financial wellbeing. Mortgage servicing provides structural advantages for providing new products (often financial, often commodity) with cost, conversion, and marketing advantages. Even better, we are usually saving people money.

This includes growing our substantial lending business (including working up funnel to education and engagement pre-lending, building new vertical segments like debt consolidation), partnering with our nascent insurance business (focused on property insurance today but with broad opportunities and tail-winds), building our mobile apps, and launching new 0 to 1 consumer products for millions – soon tens of millions – of homeowners.

We're looking for a seasoned product leader who has worked on complex consumer SaaS products (ideally in a highly regulated domain such as Fintech) to take Valon's nascent consumer vertical from 0 to 1. Although mortgage servicing is our bread and butter, we believe consumer will be a critical growth lever for the business in the coming years and this hire will be key to shaping that strategy. In the long-run consumer has the potential to be our largest business with mortgage servicing software providing proprietary access to consumers.

This role requires a growth-centric approach, driving a large cross-functional team, clear consumer insights, and the ambition to build a new multi-billion dollar business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create our consumer strategy, the roadmap, partnerships, and how to shape, phase, and distribute via our Mortgage Servicing SaaS product

  • Grow our core consumer business: lending, execution and strategy of a large and growing business that is core to mortgage servicing, continue building the best-in-class team and business through software plus insight, experimentation, and iteration to our products, marketing, sales, and operations

  • Lead and grow a high-performing team of product managers, setting clear priorities, fostering a culture of innovation, and ensuring exceptional execution

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Design, BizOps, and operations to ship impactful products at scale

  • Develop deep empathy for our users, conducting research and using data to continuously improve product usability, engagement, and satisfaction as well as invest in building new 0 to 1 products

Ideal Background

  • 7+ years of product management experience, with at least 3+ years leading and scaling product teams

  • Demonstrated success delivering high-complexity b2c products at scale, ideally in fintech or other complex markets

  • A strong track record of execution, hitting deadlines, and making customers happy

  • Proven ability to drive alignment across engineering, design, and business stakeholders

  • Strong product team building skills, hiring and retaining top performers

  • Strength in data-driven product building/growth

  • Experience in regulated industries (e.g., finance, healthcare, insurance) is a plus but not required

Benefits

  • Compensation: Competitive salary, meaningful equity, and 401(k) plan

  • Health & Well-being: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits

  • Time Off: Flexible PTO, 11 company holidays, and 12 weeks of fully paid parental leave

  • Growth & Development: Regular feedback cycles, leadership coaching, and learning

  • opportunities

  • Team Culture: Quarterly budgets for team outings and culture-building activities

  • Commute Support: Pre-tax commuter benefits for transit and parking
