Director of Educational Products and School Outreach

UChicago’s Economics for Everyone, initially conceived as an approachable economics course for UChicago students in any major, has since grown into a multimedia initiative for anyone interested in learning the fundamentals of economic thinking. The initiative has already developed a digital microeconomic curriculum with 60+ videos that explain key ideas and introduce the math and figures behind those ideas, and will begin developing a digital macroeconomics offering during summer 2025. The Director of Educational Products and School Outreach reports directly to the Executive Director of E4E and works closely with the E4E faculty leadership and the Executive Director to support and develop educational products to maximize the impact of the E4E approach with different audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Based on the unique E4E approach developed by UChicago economics faculty, manage multiple educational product development projects simultaneously, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Expand the reach of the digital E4E microeconomics video series by supporting the creation of educational materials that allow for classroom integration, including high school and university lesson plans, unit plans, and instructional guides.
  • Create and curate engaging and relevant instructional content, including multimedia resources, readings, assignments, and assessments.  
  • Develop activities and assessments to support the creation of MOOC-based courses and other professional development/executive education offering -- based on UChicago’s undergraduate E4E courses and leveraging other E4E products and resources where relevant.
  • Develop materials to explain how E4E products can be utilized inside and outside the classroom.
  • Support the creative development of E4E macroeconomics educational products, including videos, games, e-texts and more.
  • Develop and deliver professional development sessions and training workshops to help educators effectively utilize the resources.
  • Teach demo classes utilizing E4E educational products.
  • Develop blog posts and social media posts connecting E4E products to timely economic issues and how they can be taught in the classroom.
  • Serve as the relationship manager for educators utilizing and delivering E4E content in the classroom
  • Promote E4E educational products with teachers and administrators.
  • Recruit schools to use E4E curriculum in school and serve as liaison on research efforts.
  • Work closely with faculty and researchers to conduct surveys and collect data investigating the impact of E4E curriculum in the classroom.
  • Conduct market research to inform new product offerings and improvements.
  • Stay up-to-date with current trends, research, and best practices in digital education – both formal and informal -- and curriculum development.
  • Integrate educational and media technology tools and resources into new products.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies and their potential impact on new products
  • Track project progress, set priorities, and meet deadlines for deliverables.
  • Incorporate research-based instructional strategies and best practices into educational product development.
  • Conducts research and development of curriculum, models, and best practices in the field of education. Works with school leadership teams to support school planning processes, including needs assessments, goal setting, strategic planning, and determining strategies for curriculum selection and professional development. May lead the implementation of professional development workshops and individualized coaching efforts for principals, teachers, and other school staff.
  • Plays a medium to large role in program evaluation and improvement efforts.
  • Under the direction of senior leadership, develops programs and relationships to advance program initiatives.
  • Uses knowledge of the divisional vision and values to assess, evaluate, and recommend opportunities for collaboration with partners.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Work Experience: Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 5-7 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
