Job Summary
Responsibilities
Participates in designing and implementing Library Digital Repository services, including software architecture, development (computer programming) and documentation; quality assurance; analyzing and automating workflows; systems operation; file migration; generation and checking of technical metadata consistent with best practices in the field of digital preservation to ensure data integrity.
Parses data (digital files) and metadata (information about those files) from the Digitization Unit using the BagIT specification maintained by the Library of Congress into the Oxford Common File Layout (OCFL) used by the Library Digital Repository.
Ensures Library Digital Repository data integrity and control in accordance with the National Digital Stewardship Alliance, Levels of Digital Preservation, Level 3.
Automates workflows involving the Library Digital Repository, the Digitization Unit, and the OCHRE Data Service.
Develop and supports systems that provide access to information resources.
Installs, evaluates, and tests software.
Documents workflows, configurations, and technical processes.
Researches, evaluates, and implements new technologies.
Participates in national and international digital library initiatives.
Leads in the development of new systems, features, and tools. Solves complex problems and identifies opportunities for technical improvement and performance optimization. Reviews and tests code to ensure appropriate standards are met.
Utilizes in-depth technical knowledge of existing and emerging technologies, including public cloud offerings from Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud.
Performs other related work as needed.

Bachelor's degree.
Experience:
Three years of experience with one or more high-level programming languages.
Experience in a production Unix/Linux environment, including strong command-line skills (e.g., sed, awk, grep, shell scripting).
Experience with Semantic Web technologies (e.g., linked data, RDF triplestores, SPARQL, ontologies).
Experience with structured data technologies, including XML (XPath, XQuery), NoSQL, and relational databases (MariaDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or SQLite).
Familiarity with version control systems, preferably Git and GitHub.
Experience working in an academic library or similar research environment.
Technical Skills or Knowledge:
Advanced proficiency in one programming language, preferably Python.
Ability to work with the OCHRE content management system.
Ability to work with Semantic Web technologies (RDF and SPARQL).
Strong knowledge with XML technologies (XPath and Xquery).
