Summary of Job Duties:
The Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) in the Chemistry Department is responsible for performing a wide range of routine and complex clinical laboratory tests to analyze bodily fluids such as blood and urine. These tests are essential for diagnosing, monitoring, and treating diseases
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Sciences OR an approved ASCP discipline (30 semester hours in biology and chemistry, which may be obtained within, or in addition to, the Bachelor's).
- ASCP or another accrediting agency certified or eligible (Certification must be obtained within one year of employment).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous clinical laboratory experience
- ASCP certification

Job Requirements:
- Support Duties Daily quality control review.
- Organize and clean workspaces.
- Ensure adequate supplies required for daily operations are available by restocking inventory, preparing reagents, rotating stock as required.
- Communicate with clinics, physicians and external staff regarding sample integrity issues and/or critical values.
- Processes and evaluates specimens and performs appropriate tests to assist with detection, diagnosis, and treatment. Records and evaluates daily, weekly, and monthly quality control issues in their assigned areas for further review by the supervisor.
- Maintains safe work practices, follows all regulatory requirements and engages supervisor, manager, or director as appropriate.
- Assists with day-to-day operations of assigned section in Core Lab.
