Job Description


Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced Lead Cost Manager and/or Quantity Surveyor with a strong focus on Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems to join our team supporting large-scale, mission-critical data center developments. This role will serve as the key day-to-day client interface, ensuring objectives are met through the delivery of a value-added cost management service.

The ideal candidate is self-motivated, detail-oriented, and comfortable operating in a client-facing role. You will provide leadership and direction while promoting Turner & Townsend’s purpose, values, and vision.

Regular on-site visits required approximately 35 miles south of Atlanta.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and present detailed cost estimates and cost plans for MEP systems across all project phases.
  • Estimate and negotiate change orders, reconcile data, and ensure accuracy in contractor submissions.
  • Perform quantity surveying, cost controls, and change management activities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage project budgets, track financial performance, and analyze pricing and cost impacts.
  • Prepare funding data presentations and monthly cost reports for stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate cost validation and auditing processes.
  • Review contractor and subcontractor pricing and lead negotiations to ensure fair contract pricing.
  • Coordinate cost information from suppliers, subcontractors, and design teams.
  • Support value engineering exercises and design optioneering.
  • Identify and manage cost risks and contingency tracking.
  • Produce executive summaries and written commentary on contractor submissions.
  • Compile as-built cost estimate records for benchmarking purposes.
  • Mentor junior team members and promote a collaborative, one-business culture.
  • Display excellence in service delivery and uphold internal business management system

Project/Program specifications:

  • Multi-billion dollar data center campus featuring multiple buildings.
  • Extensive MEP system integration within large-scale construction projects.
  • Experience in data center, mission critical, battery, semiconductor, or large industrial projects is strongly preferred.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, quantity surveying, engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in cost management within the construction industry.
  • Experience in data center construction is strongly preferred, or similar experience in major battery/semiconductor projects and/or large industrial projects.
  • Proven experience managing MEP systems in large-scale projects.
  • Construction consultancy experience is strongly preferred.
  • Progress toward RICS accreditation is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement routes, value management, and engineering principles.
  • Proficiency in cost estimation software and excellent communication skills.
