Who we’re looking for
Toyota is looking for team members who are passionate about technology and interested in joining a collaborative and highly motivated team as a Cloud Architect.
The primary responsibility of this role will be responsible for designing and implementing secure, scalable, and reliable cloud-native platforms on public cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, and GCP. They will collaborate with teams across Enterprise Architecture, Security, and Engineering to define standardized architectures, design and implement automation frameworks, and governance processes that enhance development efficiency and experiences.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Cloud & Developer Experiences, the person in this role will join the Cloud Engineering & Software Development Support team to build and maintain secure, scalable, and resilient cloud infrastructure and systems.
This position is based in Plano, TX. The selected candidate will be expected to reside within a commutable distance of this location
What you’ll be doing
Architect and implement secure, scalable, and reliable cloud-native platforms across AWS, Azure, and GCP, driving strategic technical decisions and fostering innovation.
Develop and maintain advanced cost optimization models, forecasting tools, and automated reporting systems to ensure effective cloud resource management and financial efficiency.
Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture, Security, and Engineering teams to establish and enforce standardized cloud-native patterns, governance frameworks, and best practices.
Create developer-centric platform APIs, automation tools, and self-service capabilities to enhance productivity and streamline CI/CD processes.
Ensure the high availability, resilience, and performance of cloud infrastructure through proactive monitoring, comprehensive incident response, and meticulously crafted disaster recovery plans.
Champion engineering excellence by mentoring team members, advocating for industry-standard software development practices, and staying abreast of emerging technologies and trends.
Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate cost optimization, compliance, and security measures into cloud infrastructure and application development workflows.
What you bring
Master’s or bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
A minimum of 12 years of experience in software engineering, including 3 or more years in cloud-native development on platforms such as AWS or Google Cloud, demonstrating expertise in technical leadership, scaling cloud solutions, and delivering software iteratively to create successful products.
Proven expertise in software engineering with a strong command of technologies such as NodeJS/NestJS, Java, Spring Boot, Python, Docker/Kubernetes, cloud-native databases, and Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
Demonstrated success in building scalable, distributed, high-volume systems and transitioning monolithic architectures into micro-service APIs (GraphQL/REST) following the 12-factor application principles.
Exceptional technical leadership skills paired with a product-oriented mindset, ensuring iterative delivery of impactful solutions that drive business outcomes.
Experience in mentoring teams, fostering effective cross-team collaboration, and implementing CI/CD pipelines to deliver and maintain robust platforms.
Adept at conflict resolution and promoting continuous improvement within an engineering organization.
