The News Literacy Project is seeking a part-time Newsletter Intern to help create and monitor newsletter content focused on news literacy topics while gaining valuable experience in the nonprofit sector.
Responsibilities: Assist in producing newsletters, track trending news topics, write content, and contribute to A/B testing and audience engagement efforts.
Skills: Candidates should possess exceptional writing, communication, and research skills, along with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
Qualifications: Strong interest in news literacy, media familiarity, and experience with Microsoft Word; familiarity with educational systems, photo/video editing software, and SurveyMonkey is a plus.
Location: This is a virtual position available to candidates authorized to work in the United States, with a timeline from January to June 2026.
Compensation: $17 - $17 / Hourly

This position reports to the Senior Manager of Education Content.
The Newsletter Intern will work closely with the Senior Manager of Education Content to assist in producing two NLP newsletters: The Sift® for educators and Scroll Smarter for families. The position is ideal for a motivated person pursuing a career in reporting, research, communications, or a related field, especially in a news, nonprofit or educational organization. This position will directly impact many thousands of educators and hundreds of thousands of students in schools across the country and plays a pivotal role in shaping and achieving our organizational strategy. As the Newsletter Intern you will partner with the Senior Manager of Education Content to publish high quality newsletters sent to thousands of educators and families. The salary for this position is $17 an hour. This is a nonexempt position and is not eligible for benefits.
