Overview

We are seeking an experienced Director of Surgical Services to lead perioperative operations in a large, Level I Trauma Center setting. This role oversees 18 operating rooms and a full range of surgical specialties including cardiac, neurosurgery, vascular, ortho trauma, transplant, burn, and trauma. With responsibility for strategic planning, budgeting, and staff development, this is a high-impact leadership role offering the opportunity to shape surgical services in one of the region’s busiest hospitals.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive-level leadership for surgical services, including OR, Pre-Op, PACU, and Sterile Processing.

• Ensure high-quality, patient-centered care through evidence-based practices, patient safety, and regulatory compliance.

• Oversee staffing, scheduling, labor management, and departmental budgets.

• Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

• Collaborate with physicians, administration, and clinical leaders to advance surgical programs and drive volume growth.

• Monitor key performance indicators and implement process improvements to optimize patient throughput, outcomes, and satisfaction.

• Support professional development, recognition, and engagement of surgical services staff.

Required:

• BSN degree

• 3+ years of recent acute care Director of Surgical Services experience

  • Will consider Surgical Services Managers with extensive experience in large hospital settings

Preferred:

• Master’s degree (MSN, MBA, or related field)

• Strong background in leadership of multi-specialty surgical programs in high-volume facilities

• Base salary range: $114,857 – $172,328/year
