Overview
We are seeking an experienced Director of Surgical Services to lead perioperative operations in a large, Level I Trauma Center setting. This role oversees 18 operating rooms and a full range of surgical specialties including cardiac, neurosurgery, vascular, ortho trauma, transplant, burn, and trauma. With responsibility for strategic planning, budgeting, and staff development, this is a high-impact leadership role offering the opportunity to shape surgical services in one of the region’s busiest hospitals.
Responsibilities
Provide executive-level leadership for surgical services, including OR, Pre-Op, PACU, and Sterile Processing.
Ensure high-quality, patient-centered care through evidence-based practices, patient safety, and regulatory compliance.
Oversee staffing, scheduling, labor management, and departmental budgets.
Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Collaborate with physicians, administration, and clinical leaders to advance surgical programs and drive volume growth.
Monitor key performance indicators and implement process improvements to optimize patient throughput, outcomes, and satisfaction.
Support professional development, recognition, and engagement of surgical services staff.
Required:
BSN degree
3+ years of recent acute care Director of Surgical Services experience
Will consider Surgical Services Managers with extensive experience in large hospital settings
Preferred:
Master’s degree (MSN, MBA, or related field)
Strong background in leadership of multi-specialty surgical programs in high-volume facilities
