Inventory Buyer - Industrial Pumps & Process Equipment

Summary:  Responsible for placing orders, re-orders, and special orders with specific vendors for specific warehouse locations. Assist with purchasing and expediting materials, supplies and services at the most favorable terms for the organization.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

• Create, monitor, and analyze inventory levels.
• Manage inventory to support the company’s sales effort while striving to keep inventory needs to a minimum.
• Ensure ERP system is up to date and accurate with pricing, vendors, part numbers, and other pertinent information.
• Responsible for buyer duties for assigned warehouse locations and product lines.
• Issue purchase orders, ensure purchase order pricing and delivery dates are confirmed by suppliers, track open purchase orders, and resolve invoice discrepancies.
• Monitor and expedite orders, resolve shipment errors with suppliers.
• Responsible for coordinating warranty and Return Material Authorizations (RMAs) for purchased product.
• Assess and assure supply chain sources are capable of meeting and exceeding quality expectations through supplier evaluations, while insuring adequate capacity for on-time delivery and a commitment to continuous improvement.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 3-5 years related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer Skills: Basic computer skills, knowledge of MS Office Software (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook) and internet software. Prior experience using an ERP system for purchasing and inventory functions. Excellent data-entry skills - must possess both speed and accuracy.

Language Skills: Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. The ability to write routine reports and correspondence. The ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.

Mathematical Skills: Must be able to perform basic mathematical equations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, use of whole numbers, and percentage and decimals.
