Lead material sourcing by identifying new materials, technologies and or suppliers supporting New Product Development in a cross functional team environment. Engage with NPD teams informing on how to best develop and leverage supplier capabilities for the organization(s). Serve as a subject matter expert (Suppliers and Engineering application) across broad material categories to develop and leverage the supply base and deliver the lowest possible total cost of ownership while meeting all key project requirements.

The ideal candidate for a NPD Sourcing Engineer - Specialist would be able to do the following:

1. Work collaboratively with Engineering, Global Sourcing Managers, Product Management, Quality, Purchasing and Suppliers to deliver NPD projects on time, at quality targets, within scope and on budget.
2. Drive supplier selection and supplier development for NPD requirements to establish “right material at a right price from right supplier “thinking both for the short- and long-term goals of the organization as measured by quality, cost, delivery and responsiveness.
3. Collaborate with Purchasing and Global Sourcing teams to develop, maintain and leverage sourcing strategies that meet the needs of the NPD.
4. Collaborate with Purchasing and Supplier Quality to evaluate the capabilities and capacities of current and proposed suppliers; particularly their ability to meet quality requirements, specifications and delivery dates.  Recommend the addition or removal of suppliers based on this evaluation, the supplier’s past performance, and financial stability.
5. Engage with Engineering to ensure good quality technical specification is made available at every stage of NPD so suppliers are engaged effectively. Able to communicate regarding basic technical information with supplier and technical and manufacturing personnel
6. Identify opportunities to leverage supplier technologies and facilitate discussions between Alto-Shaam and supplier technical resources.
7. Regularly draw suppliers in VA/VE exercises so strategic and new suppliers are brought in NPD projects. 
8. Analyze and review the quotations or cost proposals to determine which supplier to recommend based on quality, total cost, lead-time, service and financial stability supporting NPD. 
9. Participate in Project Meetings with Engineering, supplier Technical Meetings, and other cross-functional meetings as necessary or assigned to build knowledge and achieve company goals and objectives.
10. Continually expand knowledge of materials, markets, and Alto-Shaam products and operations.  Attend industry conferences and trade shows as appropriate.  Understand basics of processes and materials used to produce raw materials. 

For a candidate to be successful as an NPD Sourcing Engineer - Specialist they must have:

• Bachelor’s or Associate degree in a technical field (ME or EE) ideally preferred with aptitude or limited experience in Supply Chain or
• 8 years of experience in Supply Chain, with prior knowledge supporting NPD /product design in OEM.
• Self-directed leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple projects across diverse commodities, suppliers and business functions.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.  Effective verbal & written communication skills.  Able to create and audience appropriate message.  Able to effectively interpret non-verbal cues and practice active listening.  Able to persuade others and gain support for ideas.
• Robust problem-solving techniques and ability to develop creative ideas and solutions.  Demonstrates intellectual curiosity and challenges the status quo.
• Responds quickly and accurately to the needs of both internal and external customers.
