Database Engineer

This role works with the management team to automate the analyzation, validation, mapping, and migration of healthcare data into large application databases.

This role is a hybrid position requiring 2-3 days in the West Des Moines, IA office. Candidate must live within a commutable distance to the office.

• Maintain and develop ETL specifications for healthcare business and clinical users.
• Design, build, and test deliverables for complex ETL process and interfaces spanning multiple applications.
• Moderate discussions between technical and non-technical end users, taking non-technical requirements and converting them into technical requirements.
• Develop ETL source and target mapping design/specifications based on the business requirements and ETL standards and architecture.
• Assess organizations, processes, channels, applications, and data to identify practical solutions.
• Assume responsibility for problem assessment and resolution in compliance with SLA requirements for ETL support.
• Stay abreast of ETL technologies and best practices that enhance data processing accuracy and efficiency.
• Analyzes existing SQL queries for performance improvements/SLA requirements.
• Creates and manages User Stories through Jira to track tasks and projects.
• Creates/Updates product technical design documentation.
• Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.

• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or related field with programming and database systems coursework or equivalent database administration experience.
• 1-3 years in a proficient SQL position (DBA, report developer, etc.)
• Experience with Data Warehouse data mapping and problem solving.
• ETL processing experience. Use of Big data, cloud-based ETL tools is preferred.
• Experience with building Data Warehouses/Lakes from multiple data sources is preferred.
• Experience in gathering business requirements from cross functional teams.
• Advanced SQL skills
• Data modeling experience
• Preferred experience with two or more of the following: Oracle, SQL Server, Redshift or Postgres
• Healthcare claims experience is preferred
