Streaming Meteorologist
Skills
- 3-5 years on-air meteorology experience
- BA/BS in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, or Geoscience
- Proficiency with weather computer systems, radar interpretation and forecasting models
- Experience producing weather graphics and live reporting
- Comfortable posting content to websites and social media platforms
- Strong on-air communication and audience engagement skills
- Ability to work irregular hours and respond during severe weather events
Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver accurate, conversational weather forecasts on air and online
- Provide severe weather updates and interrupt programming when necessary
- Produce clear, creative weather graphics to communicate forecasts and hazards
- Report and write from the field and the newsroom
- Update website content and engage with viewers on social media daily
- Participate in planning and brainstorming for shows and special weather events
- Fill in on other shifts and perform special projects as assigned
- Make public appearances representing the station
Education
- BA/BS degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, or Geoscience
- Relevant broadcast meteorology coursework or training
