The Role
We need founding engineers who love building 0→1. High agency, and excited to own end-to-end systems that scale to millions of researchers.
What You'll Build
Intelligent ranking algorithms — surface the right paper to the right researcher at the right time
Semantic search & recommendation engines — vector-based systems that understand research meaning, not just keywords
Predictive modeling systems — forecast which research will gain momentum or shift entire fields before it happens
Real-time data pipelines — ingest and process millions of papers from PubMed to arXiv
RAG systems — break down complex papers into structured, searchable components
Social graph infrastructure — build feeds, follows, and discussions that scale
Our Stack
TypeScript, React Native, Python, Flask, MongoDB, AWS Elastic Beanstalk, vector databases, ML frameworks (PyTorch/TensorFlow)
What We're Looking For
2–3+ years shipping production systems (search, recommendations, ML, or infrastructure)
Track record building 0→1 — side projects, startups, or products from scratch
High agency — you see problems and solve them without being asked
Ready to work in-person in NYC and own critical infrastructure from day one
