Overview

At Susquehanna, we believe that information is power—especially when it comes to trading. We are looking for a Software Engineer with a strong background in distributed networking to join our team. This team sits at the forefront of transforming real-time events into quick and actionable insights. You’ll work at the intersection of software engineering, distributed systems, and research—developing tools that extract, process, and deliver actionable insights from the world’s information flow.

This is not your typical engineering job. You’ll be embedded in a fast-paced environment where your work directly impacts how we trade. You’ll collaborate closely with traders, quantitative researchers, and other technologists to design and implement systems that enable real-time trading decisions.

How you’ll make an impact:

• Collaborate with traders and researchers to develop research tools that allow traders and researchers to understand, explore, and react to live data

• Build distributed systems that are highly available, efficient, and capable of handling real-time, high-throughput data across global infrastructure
• Develop applications that are network-aware and performance-sensitive, with a focus on ingesting and processing both structured and unstructured data in real time
• Design systems with strong awareness of networking fundamentals (e.g., TCP/IP Stack, gRPC, Kafka), including multicast where relevant, to ensure fast and reliable communication in distributed environments
• Work across the full stack - from user-facing interfaces to backend services and internal tools—to deliver practical and scalable solutions using modern webapp technologies, with an emphasis on performance, real-time updates, and clean developer experience.

What we’re looking for

• At least 8+ years of programming experience in C#, ideally with a focus on building highly performant, networked applications
• Solid understanding of internet networking protocols, including TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS is required
• Experience with front end development using modern webapps like ReactJS
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with traders, researchers, and other developers to iterate quickly on ideas
• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field
