Skills
- Proven experience building scalable distributed data processing solutions
- Strong multi-threaded programming and microservices development experience
- Hands-on object-oriented programming in Java or Scala
- Experience with Kafka, Kubernetes, Docker and Linux environments
- Ability to design for fault tolerance, low latency, and multi-tenant isolation
- Effective verbal and written communication and cross-team collaboration
- Willingness to participate in on-call rotations
Responsibilities
- Design and implement extremely high-volume, fault-tolerant backend systems that process and manage petabytes of customer data.
- Improve cluster load-scheduling algorithms and elastic runtime behavior across thousands of machines.
- Enhance performance guarantees in a shared-everything multi-tenant architecture.
- Lead re-architecting of internal message processing technology to support petabyte-per-day scale.
- Manage and operate large-scale data pipelines using Kafka, Kubernetes, Docker and related technologies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Search, Security, Metrics & Tracing) to gather requirements and architect ingest solutions.
- Participate in on-call rotations to maintain 24x7 service reliability.
Education
- B.S. in Computer Science or related discipline (required)
- M.S. in Computer Science or related discipline (preferred)
