Skills
- Hands-on injection mold design and/or construction experience
- Strong 3D CAD skills with advanced surfacing and large assemblies
- Experience with Moldflow or equivalent mold simulation tools
- Knowledge of scientific/RJG molding and LSR processes
- Ability to manage suppliers and run DOE for process optimization
- Experience with FAI, PPAP, and production qualification processes
- Willingness to travel frequently, including international visits (~50%)
Responsibilities
- Develop and qualify plastic injection tooling projects to meet performance and cosmetic requirements
- Collaborate with product design, industrial design, supply management, and manufacturing engineering on material selection and DFM
- Research and implement new materials, manufacturing technologies, and finish options
- Estimate prototype and production manufacturing costs including tooling and secondary operations
- Participate in supplier audits, RFQ preparation, and final supplier selection
- Publish and maintain master tooling schedule and track supplier build progress
- Review and approve tool designs, gating strategy, Moldflow and Mold Warp analysis, and tooling maintenance procedures
- Lead T1 sample reviews, tooling modifications, FAI and PPAP approvals
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related engineering discipline
- Relevant hands-on tooling/injection molding internship or work experience
