Skills
- Deep knowledge of property tax laws, assessment and valuation methodologies
- Experience managing property tax audits and appeals processes
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting
- Experience managing relationships with external consultants
- Strong tax technical research skills
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with accounting, legal, and government affairs
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review personal property tax returns across U.S. states in coordination with external service providers
- Coordinate with fixed asset accounting to ensure data accuracy for tax reporting
- Review assessment notices and identify discrepancies and savings opportunities
- Conduct tax research and stay current on property tax law changes and trends
- Manage and oversee external consultants, set expectations, and track progress
- Identify and pursue reimbursement programs, abatements, and incentives with government affairs
- Develop and execute property tax appeal strategies with internal stakeholders
- Prepare audit responses and resolve assessment disputes
- Maintain a tax calendar/database for payments, filings, and appeal activity
- Ensure timely payment of property tax bills and resolve tax notices
- Facilitate annual site inspections with county appraisers
- Support special projects and process improvements for indirect tax matters
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, tax, real estate, finance, or related business discipline
