Skills
- Mechanical design for production tooling and custom machines
- Experience with CAD and PLM/PDM workflows
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes (welding, machining, assembly, inspection)
- Familiarity with electromechanical systems: motors, actuators, linear rails, bearings
- Ability to apply GD&T and drafting standards to produce manufacturing drawings
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement custom production equipment with emphasis on automation and mechanical structures
- Collaborate with production technicians, multidisciplinary engineers, and management to meet rate, development, and quality targets
- Troubleshoot and solve complex, open-ended manufacturing and tooling problems quickly and efficiently
- Manage multiple projects, maintain schedules and budgets, and secure stakeholder buy-in
- Commission equipment at facility sites and support integration across SpaceX locations
Education
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related STEM discipline (required)
- Master's degree in mechanical or mechatronic engineering (preferred)
