Skills
- HVAC system design and load calculations (ASHRAE compliant)
- Experience with chillers, pumps, boilers, AHUs, heat pumps and HEPA filtration
- Commissioning and system startup per ASHRAE commissioning guidelines
- Familiarity with building automation and facility monitoring hardware/software
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit or similar design tools
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics and technical specs
Responsibilities
- Design HVAC systems for office, hangar, rocket, and payload environments including load calculations and component specification
- Oversee installation, commissioning and operation of HVAC equipment (chillers, boilers, pumps, AHUs, heat pumps, HEPA systems)
- Perform HVAC cooling load and heat loss calculations per ASHRAE standards and ensure compliance with ANSI/ASHRAE 55, 62.1, 90.1
- Implement and execute HVAC system commissioning in line with ASHRAE Guideline 0 and Standard 202
- Troubleshoot equipment failures, diagnose malfunctions, and recommend corrective actions to maintenance teams
- Develop mechanical and controls designs using CAD/Revit and prepare construction and contract documentation
- Manage capital projects, cost estimates, bids, and coordinate preventative maintenance and safety procedures
- Research and evaluate designs, recommend modifications, and test alternative solutions to meet performance and reliability requirements
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering discipline
- Relevant coursework or training in thermodynamics, fluid dynamics and heat transfer
