Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Government Services Department seeks a professional, innovative, and detail-oriented individual for our Power/Electrical Engineering Intern position in Pullman, WA!

We develop custom products and do both basic and applied research for the United States Government. If you enjoy diving deep on the fundamentals of power systems and applying creative problem-solving techniques to challenging problems, you’ll enjoy working in our department. We’ve got an array of interesting research going on that will give you a unique opportunity to put your schoolwork into practice and work hands-on with state-of-the-art test equipment and software.
We’re looking for a part-time school-year intern with the option to continue on full-time during the summer. Graduate level students are preferred but undergraduates are welcome to apply. You must be a U.S. Citizen to work in the Government Services Department.
As a Power Engineering Intern, a typical day might include the following:
Provide technical support to SEL staff & customers.
Develop and maintain knowledge in SEL processes and technologies.
Perform testing on new and existing technology.
Document and communicate test results.
This job might be for you if:
You are a US Citizen.
You have two to three years undergraduate studies in electrical engineering, with an emphasis in power systems.
You have the ability and willingness to work full-time during the summer and part-time during the school year.
You have the ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
We would like to see:
Practical knowledge of 3-phase power systems.
Basic understanding of signals and systems.
Working knowledge of modern test equipment (e.g power supplies, digital oscilloscopes).
Practical knowledge of SEL protective relays & automation controllers.
