Manager, Procurement (Starship)

SpaceX’s Starship supply chain team is building the sourcing, supplier development, and procurement capabilities required to support rapid program scale and production reliability. We are looking for an experienced Supply Chain/Procurement manager to lead the Starship sourcing team, define sourcing strategy, drive supplier qualification and development, and deliver improvements in cost, quality, and delivery.

Skills

Proven people leadership and team development in procurement or supply chain.
Commodity and strategic sourcing experience across complex manufactured components.
Supplier qualification, audit and improvement program management.
Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
Familiarity reading engineering drawings and understanding manufacturing complexity.
Analytical skills with experience using data tools (Excel, SQL, PowerBI or equivalent).
Experience driving Lean/problem-solving initiatives with suppliers.
Ability to manage high travel cadence and work extended hours to meet program milestones.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage a team of sourcing managers and specialists for the Starship program, including hiring, mentoring, performance management and organizational design.
Define and execute sourcing strategies and procurement policies to meet near- and mid-term program goals.
Drive supplier selection, qualification, and development programs to ensure capability for production scale-up.
Manage supplier performance through scorecards, audits, and continuous improvement (Lean) initiatives.
Collaborate with program teams to ensure accurate demand signals, BOM integrity, lead-time alignment and inventory targets.
Oversee KPIs including spend, inventory, part yield, defect rates and supplier delivery performance.
Negotiate contracts and pricing while ensuring compliance with company and regulatory requirements (including ITAR).
Coordinate cross-functional stakeholders (engineering, quality, manufacturing, logistics) to resolve supply constraints and prioritize supplier efforts.

Education

Advanced degree (MS/MEng) plus 4+ years relevant experience, or
Bachelor’s degree plus 6+ years relevant experience, or
10+ years of relevant experience without degree (engineering, purchasing, or supply chain roles).
