Engineer

In this role as Plant Engineer, you will provide support for multiple areas of the process specifically including and not all inclusive:
 

• Maintenance team support with project concepts and drawings to support good decision making.
• Estimating process support as back up estimator during increased workloads and bid processes.
• Job Planning support for vacations and workload challenges

What you’ll be doing:

• Provide Machine ready Die designs that meet Customer and Manufacturing specifications
• Provide die vinyls and die files for Mac team proof output.
• Provide functional prototypes when needed
• Provide 3D renderings for prototype development when needed
• Order die boards and cutting tooling
• Supports and provides guidance to cutting and digital teams
• Adherence to all Safety and Operational procedures
• Plans, designs, develops and organize medium to high scale, medium to high complexity engineering projects associated with Alloyd Brands’ product offerings.
• Collaborate with Customers, Sales, and other Sonoco divisions to develop overall Customer solutions
• Promote and identify early sales cycle pricing and concepts
• Coordinate ideation sessions to produce unique customer solutions
• The projects may include, but are not limited to product design, product specifications, cost estimating, tooling,    prototyping, engineering processes, and product quality
• Review design and document criteria to ensure it meets project specifications and Alloyd Brands’ standards
• Work with cross functional teams including individuals from sales, manufacturing, marketing, procurement and quality to ensure success of projects
• Works closely with manufacturing to ensure that designs can be manufactured and cost estimates are accurate
• Serves as technical resource in all aspects of the process
• Investigate technical problems and establish procedures and corrective actions to avoid recurrences
• Writes and maintains accurate, up-to-date files for all product specifications and customer requirements
• Maintain project information in product data management software
• Other related duties as assigned

This position is located at our Batavia, IL Facility.

• Education/Experience:  BS in engineering or a related technical field or equivalent experience plus 1-3 yrs of experience in manufacturing and fabrication processes, required.  Packaging background, a plus.
• Language Ability: Excellent leadership, interpersonal and organizational skills; Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and customers
• Reasoning Ability: Good interpersonal communication, organization & keyboarding skills, required.   Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.  Strong capacity for leading change, dealing with ambiguity and providing creative solutions
• Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have working knowledge and use of Microsoft Project, Excel, Access and MS Word.   Proficiency in application of CAD / Impact computer application programs, required. SolidWorks and AutoCAD preferred.
• Other: Demonstrated ability to multitask in a very fast paced environment and to prioritize and manage multiple projects with minimal direction.  Demonstrated ability to develop strong working relationships with a broad range of individuals across functions, up to the Executive level.  Knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication processes.  Ability to read drawings and specifications and reverse engineer components.

Compensation: 

The annual base salary range for this role is from $XX to $YY, plus annual target bonus of ZZ% of base salary.
